EN Humanity Welfare Organisation HELPLine is a registered nongovernmental organization advocating for the rights of persons with disablities in J&K. Under the organisation a rehab centre is run for the persons with severe disabilities bound to wheelchair. The mission and vision of Humanity Welfare organisation HELPLine Vision One world and one people inclusion of all persons with disabilities in the main stream. ü Empowerment of persons with disabilities at all levels – social, economical, cultural etc. ü Educational and independent life in the community. MISSION: ü Inclusion of persons with disabilities at all areas of life. ü To strengthen and rehabilitate every person with disability through building their individual capacities and enable them to live a dignified independent life. ü To advocate for proper implementation of JK PWD Act 1998 and Mental Health Act 1987. Works done/being done by the organization
The rehabilitatation of persons with severe disabilities bound to wheelchair is done by professional physiotherapists and occupational therapaists. The children with disabilities are given education, trainings and developmental therapies in the school established by the organisation viz Zaiba Aapa Institute of inclusive Education Bijbehara. Sports festival and events are organised for the persons with disabilities at district and state levels. Health check up camps and free medicine distribution camps are organised for persons with disabilities and specialists of different departments are involved. Awareness programme are organised regarding laws and policies meant for persons with disabilities. Sensitisation programmes among stake holders regarding rights of persons with disabilities are conducted in order to link the persons with disabilities to different schemes. Public interest litigations and RTI applications are filed from time to time in order to remain updated about Government policies
What are the plans of the organization for next five years?
The future plans of the organisation include 1. Complete Accessibility for safe passage of persons with Disabilities in infrastructure of J&K 2. Inclusion of children with disabilities in educational, recreational and developmental activities in J&K. 3. 100% Participation of persons with disabilities in accessible elections and census of country. 4. Gainful employment for youth with disabilities and their participation 5. Support system to be established for severe disable persons during pandemics and other risky situations. 6. Creation of data base for persons with disabilities in order to cover them under schemes meant for overall development of persons with disabilities.
