Samarthya established Nandi Social Rehabilitation Centre for Spinal Cord Injured people in the year of 2013 at Koppal district. The campus is established in 2-acre land with the all the infrastructure like physiotherapy center, occupation therapy, assistive device workshop, horticulture activities, accommodation for Spinal injury people and care takers and etc. Presently people with spinal cord injuries are facing lot of problems in the communities due to lack of skills, mobility appliances, inaccessible environment, suffering from pressure sores and depression. Hence the short stay training facility is required to help these people to live a meaningful life.

The Naandi Social Rehabilitation Centre for people with spinal Injuries caregiver training to create support systems in their homes, including orientation on possible vocational opportunities. 

NSRC functions as a platform to provide support packages that are tailored to meet the individual needs of people with spinal cord injuries. These range from therapeutic interventions, aids & appliances to training for daily living skills. 

Services available for SCI people at NSRC:

  • 15 bed facilities available in the campus. The facilities also available for Care takers 
  • Food and accommodation facilities for Spinal injury people and Care takers is available. 
  • Clinical assessment, individualized rehabilitation planning, therapeutic services, and mobility support, such as wheelchairs, cushion mats, calipers, crutches, walkers and waterbeds. 
  • The transfer of knowledge and skills to the clients and their cares on skin care, bladder and bowel training, bed mobility, balance, transfers skills from wheelchair to bed to enable them to manage independently post-camp, hygiene, dressing and managing catheter usage. 
  • Understanding and practice of upper limb strengthening exercises, trunk and balance exercises and mobility training. 
  • Professional counseling for clients and their care takers. 
  • Orientation on Rights, and social welfare benefits and entitlements.

To undertake Community Based Rehabilitation of PWDs to enable them to access equal opportunities; while supporting Parents and Caregivers in parallel.
